Most of our Toronto and Mississauga breast reduction cases are covered under OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan), and therefore are performed in hospital, at Trillium Health Centre where Dr. Weinberg served as Division Head of Plastic Surgery for more than 15 years. The procedure usually takes about an hour and a half and is almost always performed under general anesthetic.

During breast reduction surgery, Royal College Certified plastic surgeon Dr. Weinberg will remove excess fat, skin, and glandular tissue. In addition, the nipples will be lifted to a higher position on the breast mound. The skin of the breast will be tightened to create firmer, more youthful-looking breasts.
Depending on the amount of tissue to be removed, Dr. Weinberg might also reposition the nipple, make the nipple smaller, and perform liposuction to achieve the optimal breast shape. He has extensive experience with this procedure. In fact, he was even invited to demonstrate his skill in breast reduction surgery on the popular television series “Skin Deep.”
As with all surgical procedures, there are possible complications that can occur with breast reduction. Potential complications specific to your surgery will be discussed in detail at your consultation. For a discussion of general risks of surgery, review Dr. Weinberg’s Your First Visit page.
