Believe it or not, an Ontario winter is an excellent time for cosmetic enhancement. From BOTOX COSMETIC® to tummy tuck to liposuction, our Mississauga patients show an increased interest in our most popular procedures during the colder months. Why? We have a few ideas.
Winter Wear, Automatic Coverage
In the winter, long sleeves and pants are de rigueur. This makes it easy to keep incisions and healing areas concealed and protected. More conservative clothing also hides swelling and bruising, making it easier to be discreet about your surgery if you wish. Some plastic surgery procedures, such as liposuction, require a bit of time for swelling to subside and before results fully develop Depending on when in the winter you have your surgery, your beautiful results will be ready to show off come spring—fully developed and free of bandages, dressings, and bruises.
Get Comfy
There’s another reason surgery of any type is just more preferable in the winter—recuperation is more comfortable. Although cold air and indoor heating can cause dry skin, it can be preferable to recuperate in the winter as compared to the summer. Our humid summer weather can make healing more uncomfortable, especially when dealing with dressings and bandages. Winter weather simply invites coziness—relax under your favorite blanket while your body does the heavy lifting of healing itself.
More Time—Really
Although the winter months are often associated with busy holidays, there’s lots of downtime, too—especially if you don’t have kids in the house. The month of December has plenty of built-in time off for many people, including Christmas and Boxing Day. Scheduling your surgery so that your recuperation overlaps with some holidays can reduce the amount of time you’ll need to take off from work. Additionally, holidays often mean more friends and family around. Give yourself permission to not be the perfect hostess this year. Instead, ask for help from the people who love you best.
A Good Time for Nonsurgical Too
Winter isn’t just for surgical procedures, however. It’s also a popular time for nonsurgical treatments—and just in time for holiday get-togethers. We love injectables for their ability to smooth away lines and wrinkles, as well as add subtle volume, with very little recovery required. Most patients return to their usual activities as soon as their appointments are over. This feature makes injectables a popular way to prep for cocktail parties, family gatherings, and other social events where you’ll want to look your best.
